Like the other pieces in the Desert Detail series, this is a puzzle print… but in COLOR!
To create this limited edition, each puzzle tile is printed twice. Once the first colors are laid down, the blocks are carved further and printed again. This is a reduction print: once a block is carved a second time, there's no going back.
This colorful variation on the Desert Detail series still blends mid-century simplicity with a Scandinavian folk-inspired style. You may see some of these puzzle pieces come together in future prints, so stay tuned.
Each image is hand-carved into linoleum. The areas around the design are cut away, leaving a raised surface that holds the ink. Every motif is its own block, so the pieces can be rearranged and printed in different compositions.
Each print is pulled by hand with Cranfield ink on Rives BFK Crème paper. Slight variations in ink and pressure make every print one of a kind.
